Learn how to finish your own needlepoint ornament! 

In this class you will learn a no-glue lacing technique and only acid-free materials will be used, ensuring your needlepoint can be enjoyed for years to come. You’ll leave the workshop with a beautifully finished ornament and the confidence and materials needed to try it again on your own for two more ornaments – plus access to online tutorials to help you continue your learning journey.

No previous finishing experience is necessary.  Class length is 2.5 hours and class size is 7 people.

Class Options:

  • Saturday, May 17 - Round ornaments @ 9:30am
  • Saturday, May 17 - Square, rectangle or irregular shape ornaments @ 5:30pm
  • Sunday, May 18 - Round ornaments @ 9:30am

Participant Kit includes:

  • a color printed reference guide
  • access to an online tutorial
  • materials for class and 2 future finishes
  • reusable vinyl zip-top bag
  • community supplies will also be provided

What you need to bring:

A stitched, completed canvas that is blocked.  If you are enrolled in the irregular shaped class please bring a photocopy of your canvas.  If you don't want to finish your own canvas you can bring a blank 18 mesh canvas to practice on. 

About Your Instructor

Amanda Metes is a Grosse Pointe-based needlepoint finisher and owner of The Needlepoint Finishing Fairy. She’s committed to helping needlepointers discover the magic of needlepoint finishing through her online tutorials on The Needlepoint Finishing Club and in-person workshops. **Parking in front of the store is limited (we have 5 spots.) There is free street parking on 18th street west of Durham and a paid parking lot to the right of the nail salon on 18th street.
